Schiffert Health Center Student Observation Program

Schiffert Health Center Student Observation Program provides an opportunity for students to obtain shadowing hours with our on-campus clinicians. Students will gain an insight of the clinical operation of a healthcare setting and will gain a sense of the value of teamwork. Students will be in the generalized medicine clinic giving an opportunity to observe a variety of medical issues, care, and treatment.
Students accepted into the program will be able to observe 2 hours per week with the opportunity to shadow different providers. This is a shadowing and learning experience, not a paid position or internship. The observation program will run for the entirety of the semester and is only open to current Virginia Tech students. Due to the demand of the program, students must be of junior or senior status.

The Spring 2026 Application will open November 5th and will close January 5th at 11:45PM.
Applications will be reviewed January 6th through 9th, and students will be notified of their status by January 13th.
