HIV/STI Testing

Schiffert Health Center offers sexually transmitted infection testing on common STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, genital HPV, genital herpes simplex, hepatitis B, and hepatitis. Some of these tests require a fee, while others do not. HIV testing done through the Schiffert Lab is by blood test only and there is a fee for this. Students should call 540-231-6444 or schedule with the Healthy Hokies Portal for STI testing.

Students have the following opportunity to receive free testing:

  • Drop In Center: Schiffert Health Center hosts the Drop-In Center upstairs on the second floor in Room 250 on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month between 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. from September to April. This service is not available from May through August. The Drop-In Center offers finger stick HIV testing and hepatitis C testing. This is a free and confidential service offered by the Drop-In Center. Please call 540-982-2437 to schedule an appointment. The Fall 2025 schedule for the Drop-In Center testing is:

  • Virginia Department of Health: Schiffert Health Center hosts the Virginia Department of Health upstairs on the second floor in Room 250. They offer free STI & HIV Screening. Hepatitis B & C is offered based on risk factors. You can get an STD from vaginal, anal, or oral sex; getting tested is part of staying healthy. They will also have free condoms, dental dams, and PrEP information! To sign up, use this link to complete and submit the form. You will be contacted by Jennifer Johnson to schedule your visit.     • Sept. 18 from 9AM - 3PM
